佛龛是龛的一种，专用于盛放佛、菩萨、阿罗汉等佛教造像，也可盛放经文、舍利子等圣物。

最早的佛龛是在石窟壁面上开凿的小龛室，还可应用在佛塔上，作为一种装饰。佛龛的表面通常有浮雕、通雕等雕刻装饰，内容多为本生故事、佛世故事、天龙八部形象。

汉地的佛龛多用木质，和神龛类同，放置在居室里的“椟”，义为木匣子，一般仍称作佛龛，日本又称作“厨（橱）子”^[1]。

汉传佛教传统里还有用佛龛代指佛寺的用法，如《鸡林志》：“龟山有佛龛，林木益邃。”^[1]
