低温储能

低温储能(英语:Cryogenic energy storage)利用超低温液体(例如:液态空气和液态氮气)来储存能量。[1][2]。英国发明家Peter Dearman研发出利用液态空气和液态氮气为动力来源的车子。类似的技术后来发被用在电网储能,又称为液态空气储能(英语:Liquid air energy storage),在英国已有电网级的示范厂[3]

在离峰用电时,电能透过克劳德循环(Claude Cycle英语Claude Cycle)把大气中的空气冷却到-196°C,把空气液化。液态空气的体积为气态时的七百分之一,并可储存在常压绝热的储存槽中。在用电尖峰时,液态空气加压后送入热交换器中,利用空气或是其它来源的废热,来加热使其变回气态。汽化过程中体积会膨胀并可用来推动涡轮并发电。[4]

效率

最基本的液态储能系统只有约25%的效率。在增加额外的储冷设备,并将其汽化过程中部分的冷储存后,效率可提升至50%。[4] 如果和其它工厂或发电厂产生的热做整合,其效率可以再进一步提升。以115°C的热来计算,其直流-直流效率往返效率[注 1]可再增加至70%。[5]
