九五式小型乘用车是日本最初的国产汽车，1934年日本帝国陆军提出需求，1935年设计完成和于1936年量产，广泛用于中国战场和太平洋战场，作为侦察、通讯和军官乘坐车，能乘坐三人(两人在前座而一人在后座)，车顶如大多数军用车是用可折合式金属骨架再盖上帆布，此车最为特别是其发动机，此发动机为1400cc气冷式V型双缸汽油引擎（33匹马力），原本作为机动三轮车的引擎，改用于此车后被日本人称为“四轮起动”。
