蔡

蔡，周諸侯也。與周同姓。侯爵。蔡叔度之後。度興亂，周公討平之。度子蔡仲胡改行事周。遂襲封蔡。楚強，屢為楚所迫。周景王十四年，楚靈王誘蔡靈候出於虔地，滅蔡。穀梁傳以為此夷狄之滅中國也。[一]公羊傳左其言，謂蔡候本不義，楚王亦懷惡。皆非禮。[二]旋復國。遷新蔡。至楚惠王時，卒為楚所滅。蔡叔度絕祀。
