Qoplon – panteralar urugʻiga mansub yirtqich sut emizuvchi hayvon. Moʻynasi qalin, sargʻish tusda, qora halqa dogʻlari (xollari) bor[3]. Gavdasining uzunligi 92–183 sm, dumi 66–102 sm[4]. Tanasi choʻziq, oyoqlari qisqa. Erkaklari tanasining ogʻirligi odatda 30,9–72 kg, urgʻochilariniki esa 20,5–43 kg[5]. 4–5 ta, koʻpincha 2–3 ta bola tugʻadi. Afrika va Osiyoda uchraydi. Asosan, tuyoqlilar va primatlarni ovlaydi[6]. Soni keskin kamayib ketgan. Xalqaro Qizil kitobga kiritilgan.
