English: Pictured is a French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) Mirage 2000D at Kandahar Airfield in 2010.

3 French Mirage 2000s were deployed to Afghanistan in support of NATO troops in 2008.

Mirage 2000 is a multirole combat fighter from Dassault Aviation of France. It has been operational with the French Air Force since 1984.

French Air Force Mirage 2000Ds later served with the International Security Assistance Force during the conflict in Afghanistan in 2001–2002, operating in close conjunction with international forces and performing precision attacks with laser-guided bombs.

Kandahar Airfield, Kandahar Provence in Afghanistan was used by the RAF for combat operations from 2001 to 2014.

Part of Kandahar Airfield was known as RAF Kandahar, It operated RAF, Fleet Air Arm and Army Air Corps aircraft and was one end of the "Air Bridge" that started in RAF Brize Norton in the UK.All other ISAF airborne forces were also based there.

Kandahar International Airport as it was called originally is located some 10 miles South-East of the city of Kandahar in Afghanistan.

It is the country’s second international airport and one of its biggest military bases, it has the space for over two hundred military aircraft.
