The Adventure of the Resident Patient, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle tarafından yazılan bir Sherlock Holmes macerasıdır, ilk kez 1893 yılı Ağustos ayında The Strand Magazine'de yayınlanmıştır.

Dr. Percy Trevelyan, garip sorununu anlatmak için Holmes'e başvurur. Kendisi başarılı ancak yoksul bir doktordur. Ancak mali durumunu düzeltmek için kendisini garip bir iş anlaşmasının içinde bulur. Blessington adlı bir yatırımcı, kendisine Londra'nın en iyi muhitlerinden birisinde tüm masraflarını kendisinin karşılayacağı tam teşekküllü bir muayene açmayı teklif eder. Bunun karşılığında doktorun kazancının dörtte üçünü alacak, kendisinin de kimi sağlık sorunları olduğu için muayenehanenin üst katında kalacaktır. Başta iyi işleyen anlaşma bir süre sonra muayeneye gelen Rus asilzadesi ve oğlunun ziyaretiyle içinden çıkılmaz bir hal alır.

Macera ilk kez İngiltere'de 1893 yılı Ağustos ayında The Strand Magazine'de yayınlanır. Yayınlanan maceraya ünlü çizer Sidney Paget yedi adet çizim yapmıştır. Macera, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes adlı öykü serisinin içinde Aralık 1893'te basılmıştır.

Macera, ITV Granada şirketi tarafından çekilen Sherlock Holmes dizisi kapsamında televizyona başarıyla adapte edilmiştir. Başrolde Jeremy Brett'in yer aldığı macera 1985 yılında yayınlanmıştır.^[1]
