Muhtarophis barani veya Amanos yılanı, Colubridae familyasında bulunan Muhtarophis cinsine bağlı bir yılan türüdür.[4][5] Türkiye'ye de bulunan Amanos Dağlarına özgüdür ve 2007 yılında tanımlanmıştır.[6]
Özellikleri
[değiştir | kaynağı değiştir]Deri rengi kırmızımsı kahverengidir ve ayırt edici renk noktaları yoktur.[2]
Etimoloji
[değiştir | kaynağı değiştir]Muhtarophis adı, Türk herpetolog Muhtar Başoğlu'nu onore etmek için verildi (-ophis eki "yılan" anlamına gelir).[7] Tür belirleyici adı olan barani ise Türk herpetolog İbrahim Baran adını onore için verilmiştir.[2][3]
Dağılım ve habitat
[değiştir | kaynağı değiştir]Doğal ortamları 1,300 m (4,27 ft) rakımlarda bulunan [1] çalılık ve taşlı alanlardır.
