Peptit Nükleik Asit

Peptit nükleik asit (PNA) yapay olarak sentezlenen, DNA veya RNA'ya benzeyen bir polimerdir ve biyolojik araştırmalarda ve tıbbi tedavilerde kullanılır. Doğada oluşumuna rastlanmamıştır. PNA'nın omurgası peptit bağı ile bağlanmış tekrarlanan N-(2-aminoetil)-glisin bütününden oluşurken, DNA ve RNA bir deoksiriboz ve riboz şeker omurgasına sahiptir.Çeşitli pürin ve pirimidin bazları metilenkarbonil bağları ile omurgaya bağlıdır. PNAlar peptitler gibi Nitrojen ağı solda ve Karbon ağı sağda olmak üzere gösterilmektedir.[1]
