Lee de Forest (26 Ağustos 1873 - 30 Haziran 1961), 180'in üzerinde patentin sahibi olan Amerikalı mucit. Radyoyu geliştiren de Forest bu buluşu "Bir Görünmez Gök İmparatorluğu keşfettim. Soyut, ancak granit kadar sağlam." sözleriyle açıklamıştır.[1]

de Forest'ın 1906'da geliştirdiği elektron tüpü 20. yüzyılın ilk yarısında yükselişe geçen elektronik dalını doğurmuştur. Bu teknolojiyle radyo ve televizyon yayınının yanı sıra, birbirine çok uzak yerler arasında telefonla haberleşme olanaklı duruma gelmiştir.
