Durometre

Bir malzemenin (genellikle elastomerler, kauçuklar ve polimerler) sertliğini ölçmek için nasıl kullanıldığını gösteren Shore A ve Shore D durometre girintilerinin çizimi.

Durometre bir materyalin üzerine çentik atılmasına gösterdiği dirence göre sertliğinin ölçülmesine dayalı bir metottur. 1920'lerde Albert Ferdinand Shore tarafından bulunmuştur. Durometre terimi hem ölçüm aleti hem de ölçü birimi için kullanılır. Durometre tipik olarak polimerler, elastomerler ve lastiklerin sertliğinin ölçülmesinde kullanılır.

Bir otomobil lastiği durometre ile sertliği ölçülen pek çok polimer objeden birisidir... Otomobil lastiklerinin sertliği 50A ile 70A arasında değişir.
