Pari

Ang pari ay isang alagad ng Simbahan o isang taong nagsasakripisyo at nagdarasal sa Diyos para sa mga tao. Sa sinaunang Israel, kinakailangan isinilang mula sa tribo ni Levi ang isang pari. Bilang pinakamahalagang pinuno sa pananampalataya, mayroong mga natatanging gawain ang isang "Mataas na Pari". Sa Bagong Tipan ng Bibliya, itinuturing si Hesus bilang isang Mataas na Pari para sa kanyang mga tagasunod sapagkat ibinigay niya ang kanyang sarili bilang isang alay o sakripisyo. Kaugnay ng Kristiyanismo at Hudaismo, itinuturing na mga "pari" na rin ang lahat ng mga tagasunod ni Hesus, mga taong malayang makapagdadala ng sakripisyo at papuri sa Diyos.[1] Katumbas o katulad ang pari ng ministro, rabi, at pastor.[2]

Noong Marso 2009, ipinahayag ni Papa Benedikto XVI ang Hunyo 19, 2009 hanggang Hunyo 19, 2010 bilang Taon ng Kaparian o Taon ng mga Pari. Nagsimula ito sa solemnidad ng Banal na Puso ni Hesus noong Hunyo 19, 2009, na magtatapos sa pandaigdigang pagtitipon ng mga pari sa piling ng Banal na Amang Santo Papa sa pagsapit ng Hunyo 19, 2010. Idiniklara rin ni Papa Benedikto XVI ang pagiging Unibersal na Patron ng mga Pari si San Juan Vianney, sa okasyon ng ika-150 anibersaryo ng kamatayan ng paring ito na kilala rin bilang Curé d’Ars o "ang kura paroko ng nayon ng Ars".[3][4]
