วงศ์สันตะวา หรือ Hydrocharitaceae เป็นวงศ์ของพืชมีดอกที่ประกอบด้วยสปีชีส์ของพืชน้ำ ซึ่งเรียกรวม ๆ ว่า Tape-grasses มีเส้นใบแบบร่างแห ดอกสมบูรณ์เพศหรือแยกเพศ กลีบเลี้ยงสีเขียว กลีบดอกสีขาว เกสรตัวผู้วงในมักเป็นหมัน ตัวอย่างพืชที่รู้จักกันดี เช่น Canadian Waterweed Frog's Bit สันตะวาใบข้าว สันตะวาใบพาย สาหร่ายหางกระรอก ตับเต่านา
วงศ์นี้แบ่งเป็น 4 วงศ์ย่อย- Hydrocharitoideae (Hydrocharis, Limnobium), Stratiotoideae (Stratiotes), Anacharidoideae (Apalanthe, Appertiella, Blyxa, Egeria, Elodea, Lagarosiphon และ Ottelia) และ Hydrilloideae (Enhalus, Halophila, Hydrilla, Maidenia, Najas, Nechamandra, Thalassia, Vallisneria).[1]
