เซลล์พยุง
เซลล์พยุง[1] (อังกฤษ: sustentacular cell) เป็นเซลล์ชนิดหนึ่งที่โดยหลักทำหน้าที่พยุงโครงสร้าง เช่น Sertoli cell ในอัณฑะ ซึ่งอยู่ตามผนังของหลอดสร้างอสุจิ (seminiferous tubule) ที่ช่วยส่งสารอาหารให้ตัวอสุจิด้วย อีกตัวอย่างหนึ่งก็คือเซลล์พยุงที่อยู่ในเยื่อบุผิวรับกลิ่น แม้อวัยวะของคอร์ติในหูชั้นในและตุ่มรับรสก็มีเซลล์พยุงด้วย เซลล์พยุงอีกประเภทหนึ่งพบในเซลล์โกลมัสของ carotid body และ aortic body
พยาธิสภาพก็สามารถมีเซลล์พยุงได้เหมือนกัน เช่น เนื้องอกคาร์ซินอยด์ประมาณ 40% จะมีเซลล์พยุงกระจายไปทั่ว ซึ่งสามารถป้ายสีด้วยเทคนิค S100 immunostain
เซลล์พยุงที่เยื่อบุผิวรับกลิ่น
[แก้]เซลล์ค้ำจุนประเภทหนึ่งที่เยื่อบุผิวรับกลิ่นก็คือ เซลล์พยุง เป็นเซลล์ที่ช่วยพยุงโครงสร้างของเยื่อโดยอยู่รอบ ๆ เซลล์ประสาทรับกลิ่น และอาจช่วยกำจัดโมเลกุลกลิ่นและโมเลกุลอื่น ๆ จากเยื่อด้วย[2] โดยใช้เอนไซม์ P450 และอื่น ๆ[3]

Nonsensory supporting cells that surround the olfactory sensory neurons in the olfactory epithelium. The sustentacular cells may contribute to the removal of odorants or other molecules from the nasal cavity.
