ภาชนะ
ภาชนะ คือที่ใส่ของใด ๆ หรืออุปกรณ์ปิดล้อมสิ่งของเพื่อใช้ในการเก็บ บรรจุ และขนส่ง[1] สิ่งที่เก็บในภาชนะจะได้รับการป้องกันจากการที่เก็บอยู่ในโครงสร้างด้านใน คำว่าภาชนะ มักใช้ในการประยุกต์ถึงอุปกรณ์ที่ทำขึ้นจากวัสดุที่ทนทานและแข็ง
อาจถือได้ว่าภาชนะเป็นเครื่องมือชนิดหนึ่ง[2][3] ที่ประกอบด้วยอุปกรณ์ที่มีการปิดล้อมบางส่วนหรือทั้งหมด โดยสามารถบรรจุลงไปได้ เก็บของ และสิ่งของหรือวัสดุสำหรับการขนส่ง
มนุษย์มีการใช้ภาชนะมาอย่างน้อย 100,000 ปี หรืออาจเป็นไปได้ว่าหลายล้านปี[4] ภาชนะแรกสุดของมนุษย์อาจทำไว้เพื่อเก็บอาหาร[4][5] มนุษย์ในยุคแรกใช้ภาชนะในการเก็บอาหารให้ยาวนานยิ่งขึ้น หรือใช้เพื่อถือไปด้วยง่ายขึ้น และเพื่อป้องกันสัตว์ต่าง ๆ การพัฒนาภาชนะเก็บอาหารถือเป็นสิ่งสำคัญต่อการเพิ่มจำนวนประชากรมนุษย์ และถือเป็นนวัตกรรมที่ไม่พบในสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมชนิดอื่น[6]
