నంది ఉత్తమ స్పెషల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ అవార్డు, 2005లో ప్రారంభించబడింది. నంది అవార్డుల కమిటీ ఆయా సంవత్సరాలలో విడుదలైన అన్ని సినిమాల నుండి మంచి విజువల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ కలిగివున్న ఒక సినిమాను ఈ అవార్డు కొరకు ఎంపిక చేస్తుంది.
ఎంపిక చేసిన సినిమాకి పనిచేసిన స్పెషల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ సూపర్‌వైజర్ లేదా స్పెషల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ కంపెనీకి ఈ అవార్డు అందజేయబడుతుంది. మగధీర, ఈగ, బాహుబలి: ది బిగినింగ్ అనేవి ఆయా సంవత్సరాలకిగాను ఉత్తమ స్పెషల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్‌గా నంది అవార్డు, ఉత్తమ స్పెషల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్‌గా జాతీయ చలనచిత్ర అవార్డు రెండింటినీ గెలుచుకున్న సినిమాలు.[1]
