புனித பெரிய ஆல்பெர்ட், O.P. ( 1200க்கு முன்பு – நவம்பர் 15, 1280), பெரியவர் ஆல்பெர்ட் என்றும் கொலோனின் ஆல்பெர்ட் என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டவர், ஒரு கத்தோலிக்க முனிவர் (புனிதர்) ஆவார்.இவர் செருமானியத் தொமினிக்கத் துறவியும் ஆயரும் ஆவார். இவர் தம் வாழ்நாளில் அகற்பொது முனைவர் என்றும் புலவாண்மை முனைவர் என்றும் பாராட்டப்பட்டவர். வாழ்நாள் இறுதியில் தன்பெயருக்கு முன் புனித என்பது மட்டுமன்றி பெரியவர் என்ற பெருமையையும் பெற்றவர்.^[1] ஜேம்சு ஏ.விஷீப்பிள், ஜோச்சிம் ஆர்.சோடர் போன்ற புலமையாளர்கள் இவரை இடைக்காலத்தின் மாபெரும் மெய்யியலாளராகவும் இறையியலாளராகவும் மதித்தனர்.^[2] கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை இவரை திருச்சபை (மறையியல்) முனைவராக தகைமையீந்து பெருமதிப்பு தந்தது. இதுபோல திருச்சபையின் தகைமை பெற்றவர் 36 பேரே என்பது குறிப்பிடத் தக்கதாகும்.

உலக அளவில் பெரிய மேதையாக அறியப்பட்ட இவரின் ஆர்வம் அறிவியல், மெய்யியல், இறையியல் என பரந்து விரிந்ததாய் இருந்தது.^[3] ஆர்சனிக் என்ற தனிமத்தை கண்டுபிடித்தவர் இவரே.^[4] அத்துடன் வெள்ளி நைத்திரேட்டு போன்ற ஒளியுணர் வேதிப் பொருட்களை ஆராய்ந்தவர்.^[5][6]

ஆல்பெர்ட் போலிசுதாத் என்பவரின் மகனாகப் பிறந்தார்.^[7] 1280இல் இவர் இறந்தபோது இவருக்கு 80 அகவை எனக்கூறப்படுவதால், இவர் 1200க்கு முன்பே பிறந்துள்ளார். ஒன்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட தக்க சான்றுகளின்படி இறக்கும்போது 87 அகவை முடிந்திருந்ததாக அறியப்படுவதால், இவர் 1193இல் பிறந்ததாகப் பொதுவாக ஏற்கப்படுகிறது.^[8] ஆல்பெர்ட் (இப்போது பவாரியா எனப்படும்) இலௌவிங்கெனில் பிறந்திருக்கலாம். ஏனெனில் இவர் தன்னை இலௌவிங்கெனின் ஆல்பெர்ட் என அழைத்துக்கொண்டார். அல்லது அது வெறுமனே அவர் குடும்பப் பெயராகவும் இருக்கலாம்.^[8]

தொமினிகன் சபையில் சேர்ந்தார். இறையியலில் மாபெரும் தேர்ச்சி பெற்ற இவர், பாரீசில் தன் படிப்பை முடித்தபின் கோல்னில் கல்வி கற்பிக்கும் பணியைத் துவக்கினார். தியுதோனிச் மாவட்ட சபை அதிபராக தேர்வுச் செய்யப்பட்ட இவர், இரெயின்ஸ்பர்க் ஆயராக நான்கு ஆண்டு பணியாற்றிய பின், கற்பிப்பதற்கும் எழுதுவதற்கும் என திரும்பினார். இவர் பல பல்கலை கழகங்களில் இறையியல் ஆசிரியராக பணிபுரிந்தார். இவரது வகுப்புகள் மிகவும் சிறந்த முறையில் இருந்ததால், மிக அதிகமான எண்ணிக்கையில் மாணவர்கள் இவரது வகுப்புகளுக்கு வந்தனர். இதனால், இவரது பாடங்களை வகுப்புகளில் நடத்த முடியாமல், திறந்த வெளிகளில் நடத்தினார். இவரது மாணவர்களில் புனித தாமஸ் அக்குவைனஸ் ஒருவர். இவரும் அக்வினாஸும் அறிவு சார்ந்த விசுவாசத்தை தங்கள் இறையியல் விளக்கங்களில் பறைசாற்றினர். லியோன் பொதுச்சங்கத்தில் முக்கியப் பங்காற்றி, தன் மாணவரான தாமஸ் அக்குவினாஸின் எழுத்துக்களையும் படிப்பினைகளையும் விளக்கி அதற்கு ஆதரவாகப் பேசினார்.

1280ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 15 இறந்த ஆல்பர்ட், 1931ஆம் ஆண்டு திருத்தந்தை பதினொன்றாம் பயஸினால் புனிதராகவும், மறைவல்லுனராகவும் உயர்த்தப்பட்டார். திருத்தந்தை பன்னிரண்டாம் பயஸ் இவரை இவ்வுலகு சார்ந்த அறிவியல்களின் பாதுகாவலராக அறிவித்தார்.
