Shpërthimi Minoan ishte një shpërthim vullkanik katastrofik që shkatërroi ishullin Egje të Therës (i quajtur edhe Santorini) rreth vitit 1600 pes.^[1][2] Ai shkatërroi vendbanimin minoan në Akrotiri, si dhe komunitetet dhe zonat bujqësore në ishujt e afërt dhe në bregdetin e Kretës me tërmete dhe paleotsunami të mëvonshme.^[3] Me një Indeks të Shpërthimit Vullkanik (VEI) midis 6 dhe 7, ai rezultoi në nxjerrjen e afërsisht 28-41 km3 ekuivalenti të shkëmbinjve të dendur (DRE),^[4][5] shpërthimi ishte një nga ngjarjet më të mëdha vullkanike në historinë njerëzore.^[6][7][8] Meqenëse tefra nga shpërthimi Minoan shërben si një horizont shënues në pothuajse të gjitha vendet arkeologjike në Mesdheun Lindor,^[9] data e saktë e saj është e një rëndësie të madhe dhe është debatuar ashpër mes arkeologëve dhe vullkanologëve për dekada,^[10][11] pa arritur në një përfundim të caktuar.
