Lee Raymond Kernaghan OAM (born 15 April 1964) is an Australian country music singer, songwriter and guitarist.

Kernaghan was born in Corryong, Victoria. He grew up in the Riverina, New South Wales. His father, Ray, and sister Tania, are also country music singers. He has two sons.^[1]

Kernaghan's first studio album, The Outback Club, was released in 1992. This album won the ARIA Music Award for Best Country Album. His second studio album, Three Chain Road (1993), also won him the Best Country Album. The song "Leave Him in the Longyard" from Three Chain Road, had Slim Dusty perform on it. He has won 37 awards at the Country Music Awards. In 2004, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Kernaghan was named Australian of the Year in 2008. This was for his support of rural and regional Australia. His "Pass the Hat Around" tours have raised more than a million dollars for rural areas that struggled because of drought.^[2]
