Argyrosomus
Argyrosomus is a genus of large ray-finned fishes belonging to the family Sciaenidae that are known for being game fish. They are also known as kobs or meagres.
Argyrosomus have a long body with a dorsal profile that is more convex than the ventral profile. Argyrosomus is a combination of argyros, meaning "silver", with soma, meaning "body", referencing the pearly-silver color of Argyrosomus regius.
