Crudia zeylanica (සිංහල: පඬු කරඳ), sometimes known as Sri Lanka legume, is a species of plant in the family Fabaceae endemic to Sri Lanka.[3] Once thought to be extinct,[4] the plant was rediscovered in 2019.[1]
නැවත සොයා ගැනිම 2019 වන තෙක්, මෙම ගස 1911 සිට දැක නොතිබූ අතර, ශාකාගාර නිදර්ශක වලින් පමණක් දැන සිටියේය. මේ අනුව, යල් පැන ගිය IUCN රතු ලැයිස්තු තක්සේරුවකින් එය වඳ වී ගොස් ඇති බව ලැයිස්තුගත කර ඇත. 2019 වසරේදී ගම්පහ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ස්ථාන කිහිපයක ගම්පහ, දාරළුව දුම්රිය ස්ථානයට ආසන්නව පිහිටි කුඩා වනාන්තර ඉඩමක මෙම ශාකය නැවත සොයා ගන්නා ලදී.2023 ජුලි මාසයේදී ලොකයේ විශාලතම මෙන්ම ආරක්ෂා කල යුතු ශාකය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පරිසරවේදීන් ගෙ බලවත් අප්‍රසාදය ට ලක් වෙමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජයේ කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලය අනුමැතිය ලබා ගෙන ගස කපා දැමූ බව මහා මාර්ග අමාත්‍ය බන්ධුල ගුණවර්ධන පුවත්පත් සාකච්ජාවක් පවත්වමින් කියා සිටියේය. එමෙන්ම එම ශාකය කපා දැමීමට සිදු උනේ මහනුවර කොලඹ අධිවේගී මාර්ගය සඳහා බවට අමාත්‍ය බන්ධුල ගුණවර්ධන ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියේය. ලොකයේ වඳ වී ඇතැයි සිතූ ශාකයක් නැවත සොයා ගෙන ටික කාලයකින් ලොවට අහිමි කර වීම ඉතා කනගාටුදායකය.
Conservation effort
[සංස්කරණය]On 7 February 2021, Gampaha Divisional Forest Officer Devani Jayathilaka visited a construction site of the expressway from Kadawatha to Meerigama and discovered a Crudia zeylanica plant.[5] She immediately prevented the workers from destroying it and informed the personnel regarding the matter. The news made a huge media circus in Sri Lanka, where several authorities cited the value of the tree and prevented it from being cut.[6]
On 10 February 2021, the plant was ordained by the Buddhist clergy from the National Bhikku Front in an effort to protect it.[7]
