Snežana“ je nemačka bajka, poznata u većem delu Evrope, i danas jedna od najpoznatijih bajki u svetu. Braća Grim su je objavila 1812. u prvom izdanju njihove zbirke „Bajke Braće Grim“. Dobila je naziv nem. Sneewittchen (u današnjoj ortografiji Schneewittchen), i bila je brojno označena kao Priča 53. Grim su završili konačnu verziju priče 1854.[1]

Bajka sadrži elemente kao što su magično ogledalce, otrovna jabuka, stakleni sanduk i likove zle kraljice i sedam patuljaka, koji su prvi put imenovani pojedinačnim imenima u Brodvejovoj predstavi „Snežana i sedam patuljaka“ (1912), a potom su dobili različita imena i u Volt Diznijevom filmu iz 1937. „Snežana i sedam patuljaka“. Priču Braće Grim, koja se uobičajeno pominje kao „Snežana“, ne treba mešati sa pričom „Snežana i trnova ružica“ (na nemačkom Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot), drugom bajkom koju su sakupili Braća Grim.[2]

U folklornoj klasifikaciji Arn-Tomson, priče ove vrste grupisane su zajedno kao tip 709, Snežana. Ostale priče ove vrste su „Lepa Venecija“, „Mirsina“, „Njuri Hedig“ i „Zlatno drvo i srebrno drvo“.[3]
