Entalpija (H) je u termodinamici mjera za unutarnji sadržaj toplinske energije[1][2] i općenito se može definirati izrazom

gdje je U unutarnja energija, p tlak, a V volumen sustava.

Entalpija je funkcija stanja nekog sustava,a njezin prirast odgovara vezanoj ili oslobođenoj toplini/energiji u procesu koji se odvija uz stalan tlak.

Entalpija otapanja je prirast entalpije pri otapanju tvari kada nastane beskonačno razrijeđena otopina.

Entalpija izgaranja je promjena entalpije koja prati potpuno izgaranje uzorka.

Entalpija prijelaza je prirast entalpije pri prijelazu iz jednog agregatnog stanja u drugo pri stalnom tlaku.

Entalpija stvaranja nekog spoja je promjena entalpije pri njegovu stvaranju iz elemenata.
