Modesto Omiste province is ane o saxteen provinces in the Potosí Depairtment. It is locatit atween 21° 39' an 22° 06' Sooth an atween 65° 10' an 66° 08' West. In the north it borders Sud Chichas Province, in the east Tarija Depairtment, in the sooth an sooth-wast the Republic o Argentinae. The province extends ower 120 km frae east tae wast an 65 km frae north tae sooth.

The main leid o the province is Spaingie, spoken bi 97 %, while 44 % o the population speak Quechua. The population rose frae 31,737 (1992 census) tae 36,266 (2001 census), an increase o 14.3 %.

44 % o the population hae nae access tae electricity, 54 % hae nae sanitary facilities. 18 % o the population are employed in agricultur, 11 % in industrie, 71 % in general services. 84 % o the population are Catholics, 11 % Protestants.

Maist o the fowk are no indigenous, 43,3 % are ceetizens o Quechua descent.[1]
