The Armenie Soviet Socialist Republic (Armenie: Հայկական Սովետական Սոցիալիստական Հանրապետություն Haykakan Sovetakan Soc’ialistakan Hanrapetut’yun; Roushie: Армя́нская Сове́тская Социалисти́ческая Респу́блика Armjanskaja Sovetskaja Sotsialističeskaja Respublika), kent as the Armenie SSR or Soviet Armenie an aw, wis ane of the fifteen republics that made up the Soviet Union in Dizember 1922. It wis establisht in Dizember 1920, when the Soviets teuk ower control o the short-livit Democratic Republic o Armenie an lastit till 1991. It is sometimes cried the Seicont Republic o Armenie, follaein the Democratic Republic o Armenie's demise (which wis kent as the First Republic o Armenie an aw).
As pairt o the Soviet Union, the Armenie SSR transformit frae a lairgely agricultural hinterland tae an important industrial production center. On 23 August 1990, it wis renamit the Republic o Armenie, but remained in the Soviet Union till its offeecial proclamation o unthirldom on 21 September 1991. Efter the dissolution o the Soviet Union, the state o the post-Union Republic o Armenie existit till the adoption o the new constitution in 1995.
