Javan

Javan ou Javã (do hebraico יָוָן), é um personagem bíblico do Antigo Testamento. Trata-se do quarto filho de Jafé e pai de Elisá, Társis, Quitim e Dodanim.[1]

É também o nome hebraico para designar os gregos.[2][3] Tem-se entendido que Javan era originalmente progenitor dos jônios da Ásia Menor.[4] Em um momento posterior esses jônios se separaram e habitaram regiões que iam desde a Grécia até a Espanha, incluindo partes da Itália e a ilha de Chipre.[5]
