Samuel Smiles (ur. 23 grudnia 1812 w Haddington, zm. 16 kwietnia 1904) – szkocki pisarz filozoficzny i moralista.
Autor niegdyś poczytnych, znanych i w przekładzie polskim książek: "Self-Help" (1859), "Character" (1871), "Thrift" (1875, "Oszczędność"), "Duty" (1880, "Obowiązek" ), nadto: "Life of George Stephenson" (1857, VI. wyd. 1864), "Lives of Engineers" (1862, nowe wyd. 1905, 5 tomów), "The Huguenots, their Settlements in England and Ireland" (1867, ostatnie wyd. 1905), "Life and Labour" (1887), "A Publisher and His Friends" (1891), 2 tomy, życiorys księgarza Johna Murraya), "Autobiography" (1905).
