ਸਫਾਵਿਦ ਇਰਾਨ
ਸਫਾਵਿਦ ਇਰਾਨ or ਸਫਾਵਿਦ ਫਾਰਸ (/ˈsæfəvɪd, ˈsɑː-/), ਸਫਾਵਿਦ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,[lower-alpha 1] 7ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਸ਼ੀਆ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਈਰਾਨੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਫਾਵਿਦ ਰਾਜਵੰਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ 1501 ਤੋਂ 1736 ਤੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[1][2][3][4] ਇਸਨੂੰ ਅਕਸਰ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਈਰਾਨੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਬਾਰੂਦ ਦੇ ਸਾਮਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ।[5][6] ਸਫਾਵਿਦ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਇਸਮਾਈਲ I ਨੇ ਸ਼ੀਆ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਵੀਂ ਸੰਪਰਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਧਰਮ ਵਜੋਂ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜੋ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਮੋੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ।[7]
