ਧਰਤੀ ਜਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਾਤਾ (Sanskrit: पृथ्वी, pṛthvī, also पृथिवी, pṛthivī) "ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਥਾਂ" ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ 'ਚ ਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਤੌਰ ਦੇਵੀ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਾਖਾਵਾਂ ਬੁੱਧ ਧਰਮ 'ਚ ਵੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੂਮੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਦਯੂਸ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਤੌਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਮਾਤਾ ("ਮਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ") ਉਹ ਦਯੂਸ ਪਿਤਾ ("ਪਿਤਾ ਆਕਾਸ਼") ਦੀ ਪੂਰਕ ਹੈ।[1] ਰਿਗਵੇਦ ਵਿੱਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ 'ਚ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਬਤੌਰ ਦਯਵਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਵਰਣਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।[2] ਉਹ ਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਹੈ।
ਇੰਡੋਨੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਚਿੱਤਰਕਾਰੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਬੂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਵੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੁੱਧ ਧਰਮ 'ਚ
[ਸੋਧੋ]ਬੁੱਧ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਵਰਣਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੌਤਮ ਬੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਅਕ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਗਵਾਹ ਵਜੋਂ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਪਾਲੀ ਕੈਨਨ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਸਰ ਭੂਮੀਸਪਾਰਸਾ ਜਾਂ "ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹਣ" ਮੁਦਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੱਦਾ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।[3]
