Tōdai-ji (東大寺, «det østlige store tempel»)[3] er et buddhistisk tempelkompleks i byen Nara i Japan. Begynnelsen på tempelet daterer seg tilbake til året 728, da keiser Shōmu etablerte Kinshōsen-ji (金鐘山寺). Tōdai-ji var en gang blant de mektige Nanto Shichi Daiji eller de «syv store templer». Det er hovedkvarteret for den buddhistiske retningen Kegon-shū (Avataṃsaka). «Den store Buddhahallen» (大仏殿, Daibutsuden) huser verdens største bronsestatute av Vairocana,[4][5] kjent på japansk som Daibutsu (大仏).

Tempelet er oppført av UNESCO i historiske monumenter fra det gamle Nara som en del av verdensarven. Syv andre templer og helligdommer er oppført i listen. Sikahjorter, som i Shintoismen betraktes som gudenes sendebud, streifer fritt omkring på eiendommen.
