Kongregasjonen for biskopene
Kongregasjonen for biskopene (ofte kalt Bispekongregasjonen, latin Congregatio pro Episcopis) var frem til 2022 en del av Den romerske kurie, det vil si Den katolske kirkes sentrale forvaltning. Den har oppsyn med alle katolske biskoper, og er ansvarlig for utredningen i forbindelse med bispevalg.
Pave Frans I fremla den 19. mars 2022 en ny forfatning som med virkning fra 5. juni 2022 erstattet Kuriens kongregasjoner og pavelige råd med dikaster.[1]
Historikk
[rediger | rediger kilde]Kongregasjonen ble opprettet 22. januar 1588 av Sixtus V, da som en kongregasjon med ansvar for opprettelse av nye kirkelige jurisdiksjoner. I pave Pius Xs konstitusjon Sapienti Consilio fra 29. juni 1908 fikk den ansvar for forberedelse av bispevalg, opprettelse av nye bispedømmer og overoppsyn med biskopenes virke. Det nåværende navnet og arbeidsfeltet fikk den 15. august 1967 av Paul VI.
Kongregasjonen har et kontor som arrangerer biskopenes ad limina-besøk.
Den pavelige kommisjon for Latin-Amerika er underlagt Bispekongregasjonen.
