Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn (Mansfeld, 26 oktober 1809 – Lembang, 24 april 1864) was een Pruisisch-Nederlands ontdekkingsreiziger, indoloog, landmeter, arts, geograaf, geoloog en botanicus. Als onderzoeker bracht hij in dienst van de autoriteiten van Nederlands-Indië de geografie, geologie en natuur van Java en de Bataklanden op Sumatra in kaart. Naast het wetenschappelijk vastleggen van zijn ontdekkingen schreef Junghuhn ook boeken over zijn reizen, bekend vanwege hun gekleurde litho's van Indische landschappen. (Lees verder)
