The Japan Times ialah akhbar harian bahasa Inggeris tertua dan terbesar Jepun.[1][2] Syarikat yang menguruskan akhbar ini ialah The Japan Times Ltd., subsidiari kepada News2u Holdings, Inc. dan beribu pejabat di wad Chiyoda, Tokyo.[3][4]

Akhbar ini diasaskan oleh Motosada Zumoto pada 22 Mac 1897 dengan harapan agar rakyat Jepun memperoleh peluang untuk membaca dan berbincang tentang isu-isu semasa dalam bahasa Inggeris agar Jepun dapat menyertai masyarakat antarabangsa.[5]

Selain The Japan Times, syarikat akhbar juga menerbitkan dua lagi akhbar, yakni akhbar tabloid mingguan The Japan Times Weekly,[6] dan Shukan ST, akhbar tabloid mingguan bagi golongan masyarakat Jepun yang sedang belajar bahasa Inggeris. Syarikat akhbar ini juga menerbitkan siri buku Genki, siri buku tentang pembelajaran bahasa Jepun. Akhbar-akhbar The Japan Times juga diarkibkan ke dalam platform atas talian.
