इस्लामिक कालगणना
इस्लामी कालगणना किंवा चांद्र हिजरी कालगणना इस्लाम धर्मात प्रचलित असलेली व चंद्राच्या परिभ्रमणकाळावर आधारित, अशी कालगणनेची पद्धत आहे. हिजरत या शब्दाचा अरबीमध्ये प्रयाण असा अर्थ आहे. ज्या दिवशी महंमद पैंगबर यांनी मक्केहून मदिनेस जुलै १६, इ.स. ६२२ रोजी प्रयाण केले त्या दिवसासून या कालाची गणना सुरू झाली, असे समजत असल्याने त्या कालगणनेस हिजरी असे म्हणले जाते. बहुतांश मुस्लिम राजघराण्यांतील नाण्यांवर हिजरी तारखा पहावयास मिळतात.
आठवड्याचे दिवस
[संपादन]पारंपारिकपणे, इस्लामी दिवस सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी सुरू होतो आणि पुढील सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी संपतो. अशा प्रकारे प्रत्येक इस्लामी दिवस रात्रीच्या वेळी सुरू होतो आणि दिवसाच्या शेवटी संपतो. शेवटच्या दोन दिवसांचा अपवाद वगळता सात-दिवसांच्या आठवड्यातील दिवसांना आठवड्यातील त्यांच्या क्रमानुसार नाव दिले जाते. आठवड्याच्या सहाव्या दिवशी, "गॅदरिंग डे" (यौम अल-जुमाह), मुस्लिम दुपारच्या वेळी स्थानिक मशिदीत शुक्रवार-प्रार्थनेसाठी एकत्र होतात. "जूमा" हा सहसा साप्ताहिक सुट्टीचा दिवस मानला जातो. हे वारंवार अधिकृत केले जाते, अनेक मुस्लिम देश शुक्रवार आणि शनिवार (उदा. इजिप्त, सौदी अरेबिया) किंवा गुरुवार आणि शुक्रवार अधिकृत शनिवार व रविवार म्हणून स्वीकारतात, ज्या दरम्यान कार्यालये बंद असतात; इतर देश (उदा., इराण) एकट्या शुक्रवारला विश्रांतीचा दिवस ठरवतात. काही इतरांनी (उदा., तुर्की, पाकिस्तान, मोरोक्को, नायजेरिया, मलेशिया) शनिवार-रविवारचा शनिवार व रविवार स्वीकारला आहे, तर पूजेसाठी वेळ मिळावा म्हणून शुक्रवार हा कामाचा दिवस बनवला आहे.

महिने
[संपादन]इस्लामी कॅलेंडरचा प्रत्येक महिना नवीन चंद्र चक्राच्या जन्मापासून सुरू होतो.[२] पारंपारिकपणे, हे चंद्राच्या चंद्राच्या वास्तविक निरीक्षणावर आधारित आहे (हिलाल) मागील चंद्र चक्राचा शेवट आणि म्हणून मागील महिन्यात, त्याद्वारे नवीन महिना सुरू होतो. परिणामी, चंद्राची दृश्यमानता, पृथ्वीची खगोलीय स्थिती आणि हवामानाची स्थिती यावर अवलंबून प्रत्येक महिन्यात 29 किंवा 30 दिवस असू शकतात.[a]
बारा हिजरी महिन्यांपैकी चार पवित्र मानले जातात: रजब (7), आणि सलग तीन महिने धूल खादा (11), दुल हिज्जा (12) and मूहाररम (1).[३]
