Жэймс Прэскотт Жоуль (Англи: James Prescott Joule) (1818 оны 12 дугаар сарын 24-нд төрж, 1889 оны 10 дугаар сарын 11-нд нас барсан) нь Английн Ланкаширийн Салфордод төрсөн физикч, шар айраг нэрэгч байсан. Жоуль дулааны шинж чанарыг судалж, түүний механик ажилтай хамааралтай болохыг нээжээ (энергийг үз). Энэ нь энерги хадгалах онол гарахад хүргэсэн бөгөөд улмаар термодинамикийн нэгдүгээр хууль гарчээ. Энергийн нэгжийг түүний нэрээр жоуль гэж нэрлэсэн юм. Тэрээр Лорд Кэлвинтэй хамтран температурын туйлын хуваарийг бий болгож, соронзон стрикцийг ажиглан, цахилгаан гүйдэл эсэргүүцлээр дамжин ялгарсан дулаантай холбоотой болохыг олж тогтоосон нь өдгөө Жоулийн хууль гэгддэг.
