തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ഷോർണൂർ-കൊച്ചി ഹാർബർ സെക്ഷനിലെ ഷോർണൂർ ജംഗ്ഷനും മുള്ളുക്കര റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനും ഇടയിലാണ് വള്ളത്തോൾ നഗർ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷൻ (വി.ടി.കെ) അഥവാ വള്ളത്തോൾനഗർ തീവണ്ടിനിലയം. ഇന്ത്യൻ റെയിൽ‌വേയുടെ ചെന്നൈ ആസ്ഥാനമായ സതേൺ റെയിൽ‌വേയാണ് വള്ളത്തോൾ നഗർ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷൻ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്. കേരള കലാമണ്ഡലത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന സ്റ്റേഷനാണിത് [1][2][3][4] തിരുവനന്തപുരം റെയിൽവേ ഡിവിഷനിലെ അവസാന സ്റ്റേഷനും.
ചരിത്രം
[തിരുത്തുക]മലയാള ഭാഷയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും മഹാനായ കവിയായ വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണ മേനോന്റെ പേരിലോ മഹാകവി വള്ളത്തോൾ എന്ന പേരിലോ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ഈ സ്റ്റേഷന്റെ പേര്. ഇന്ത്യൻ പ്രകടന കലകൾ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും കേരളത്തിൽ വികസിച്ചവപഠിക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു പ്രധാന കേന്ദ്രമായ ചെരുതുരുത്തിയിൽ കേരള കലാമണ്ഡലം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിൽ വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണ മേനോൻ നിർണായക പങ്കുവഹിച്ചു, .[5]
