ശ്രീലങ്കയിലെ 1.6 കോടിയോളം ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള സിംഹള വംശജരുടെ മാതൃഭാഷയാണ് സിംഹള ഭാഷ (සිංහල siṁhala [ˈsiŋɦələ] "സിങ്ഹല"), അഥവാ സിംഹളീസ് /sɪnəˈliːz/,[2] ഏകദേശം 30 ലക്ഷത്തോളം ആളുകൾ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഭാഷയായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നു..[3] ഇന്തോ യൂറോപ്യൻ ഭാഷകളിലെ ഇന്തോ-ആര്യൻ വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്ന സിംഹള, ശ്രീലങ്കയിലെ രണ്ട് ഔദ്യോഗികഭാഷകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്.
ബ്രാഹ്മി ലിപിയിൽനിന്ന് രൂപപ്പെട്ട സിംഹള ലിപി ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് സിംഹള ഭാഷ എഴുതുന്നത്.
