യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ്സിന്റെ വടക്ക് കിഴക്കൻ ഭാഗത്തുള്ള ന്യൂ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് പ്രദേശത്തെ ഒരു സംസ്ഥാനമാണ് വെർമോണ്ട്. 24,923 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റർ വിസ്തൃതിയും 608,827 ജനസംഖ്യയുമുള്ള വെർമോണ്ട് അക്കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ യഥാക്രമം 45-ഉം 49-ഉം സ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലുള്ള സംസ്ഥാനമാണ്. അറ്റ്ലാന്റിക് സമുദ്രവുമായി അതിർത്തി പങ്കിടാത്ത ഒരേയൊരു ന്യൂ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് സംസ്ഥാനമാണ് വെർമോണ്ട്. തെക്ക് മസാച്ചുസെറ്റ്സ്, കിഴക്ക് ന്യൂ ഹാംഷെയർ, പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ന്യൂ യോർക്ക്, വടക്ക് കാനഡയുടെ പ്രവിശ്യയായ ക്യുബെക് എന്നിവയുമായി അതിർത്തി രൂപവത്കരിക്കുന്നു.
അബെനാകി, ഇറൊക്വോയിസ് എന്നീ ആദിമ അമേരിക്കൻ ഗോത്രങ്ങണാണ് ഇവിടെ വസിച്ചരുന്നത്. ഫ്രാൻസ് ഇവിടെ കോളനി സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും, പിന്നീട് അവരെ തോല്പിച്ച് ബ്രിട്ടൻ ഈ പ്രദേശം പിടിച്ചടക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അനേക വർഷങ്ങൾ സമീപ കോളനികൾ ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിനായി പോരാടി. 1791-ൽ സ്ഥാപകാംഗങ്ങളായ 13 കോളനികൾക്ക് ശേഷം, 14-ആം സംസ്ഥാനമായി വെർമോണ്ട് യൂണിയന്റെ ഭാഗമായി.
ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രകൃതിഭംഗിയും മികച്ച പാലുല്പന്നങ്ങളും വെർമോണ്ടിനെ പ്രശസ്തമാക്കുന്ന ഘടകങ്ങളാണ്. മോണ്ടിപെലിയർ ആണ് തലസ്ഥാനം. ബർലിങ്ടൻ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരമാണ്.
