ജീവിതരേഖ
[തിരുത്തുക]1635 ജൂലൈ 28ന് ഫ്രഷ്വാട്ടർ ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് റോബർട്ട് ഹുക്ക് ജനിച്ചത്. ജോൺ ഹുക്ക്, സിസിലി ഗെയ്ൽസ് എന്നിവരാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ. റോബർട്ട് മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ നാല് കുട്ടികളിൽ (രണ്ട് ആൺകുട്ടികളും രണ്ടു പെൺകുട്ടികളും) ഇളയ ആളായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹവും തൊട്ടുമുകളിലുള്ള കൂടപ്പിറപ്പും തമ്മിൽ ഏകദേശം ഏഴ് വർഷത്തെ പ്രായവ്യത്യാസം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.[1] അവരുടെ പിതാവായിരുന്ന ജോൺ ചർച്ച് ഓഫ് ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെ ഒരു പുരോഹിതനും ഫ്രഷ്വാട്ടർ ചർച്ച് ഓഫ് ഓൾ സെയിന്റ്സ് [2] സഭയിലെ വികാരിയുടെ സഹായിയുമായിരുന്നു. റോബർട്ടിൻറെ രണ്ട് പിതൃസഹോദരന്മാർ മന്ത്രിമാരായിരുന്നു. ചെറുപ്പത്തിൽത്തന്നെ റോബർട്ട് ഹുക്ക്, ചിത്രകലയിലും ഉപകരണ നിർമ്മിതിയിലും അതിയായ പ്രാവീണ്യം കാട്ടിയിരുന്നു. നല്ല നിരീക്ഷണ പാടവവും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
മൈക്രോഗ്രാഫിയ
[തിരുത്തുക]1665 ൽ റോബർട്ട് ഹുക്ക് തന്റെ പുസ്തകമായ മൈക്രോഗ്രാഫിയ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. മൈക്രോസ്കോപ്, ടെലിസ്കോപ് എന്നിവയിൽക്കൂടിയുള്ള തന്റെ നിരീക്ഷണങ്ങളും ജീവശാസ്ത്രത്തിലെ കണ്ടെത്തലുകളുമാണ് ഇതിൽ വിശദീകരിച്ചത്. കോശങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നതിന് Cell എന്ന പദം ആദ്യമായി ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിലാണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചത് [3],[4]. തേൻപലകയിലെ അറകളോട് അദ്ദേഹം കോശത്തെ താരതമ്യം ചെയ്തു [5].
റോബർട്ട് ഹുക്കിന്റേതായി ചിത്രങ്ങളൊന്നുംതന്നെ അവശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സമകാലികരായിരുന്ന John Aubrey, Richard Waller എന്നിവരെഴുതിയ വിവരണത്തെയടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി The Rita Greer Robert Hooke project ന്റെ ഭാഗമായി തയ്യാറാക്കിയ ഛായാചിത്രമാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടുള്ളത്[6], [7][8][9][10][11][12][13].
