ബെൽജിയം(The Kingdom of Belgium ) വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറേ യൂറോപ്പിൽ ഉള്ള ഒരു രാജ്യമാണ്. നെതർലാന്റ്സ്, ജെർമ്മനി, ലക്സംബർഗ്ഗ്, ഫ്രാൻസ് എന്നിവയാണ് ബെൽജിയത്തിന്റെ അതിർത്തിരാജ്യങ്ങൾ. വടക്കൻ കടലിന് (നോർത്ത് സീ) ഒരു ചെറിയ കടൽത്തീരവും ബെൽജിയത്തിനു ഉണ്ട്. യൂറോപ്യൻ യൂണിയന്റെ സ്ഥാപക അംഗങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായ ബെൽജിയത്തിലാണ് യൂറോപ്യൻ യൂണിയന്റെ ആസ്ഥാനം (തലസ്ഥാനമായ ബ്രസ്സത്സിൽ). നാറ്റോ ഉൾപ്പെടെ മറ്റ് പല അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര സംഘടനകളുടെയും ആസ്ഥാനവും ബെൽജിയത്തിലാണ്. ബെൽജിയത്തിൽ ഒന്നരക്കോടിയിൽ അധികം ജനസംഖ്യ ഉണ്ട്. 30,000 ച.കി.മീ (11,700 ച.മൈൽ) ആണ് ഈ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വിസ്തീർണ്ണം.

രണ്ട് പ്രധാന ഭാഷാവിഭാഗങ്ങളാണ് ബെൽജിയത്തിലുള്ളത്.59ശതമാനം ഡച്ച് ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന [[ഫ്‌ളെമിഷ്വʼഭാഗവും 41 ശതമാനം വരുന്ന ʽവല്ലൂൺʼപ്രദേശത്തെ ഫ്രഞ്ച് ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നവരുമാണ് ഇവർ.ഇതിന് പുറമെ ജർമ്മൻ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിഭാഗത്തെയും ഇവിടെ ഔദ്യോഗീഗമായി അംഗീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്^[6]

പാർലമെന്ററി ഭരണവ്യവസ്ഥയാണെങ്കിലും ഭരണഘടനാപരമായ പ്രതിസന്ധിയുണ്ടായാൽ അതിനെ മറികടന്ന് കാര്യങ്ങൾ തീരുമാനിക്കാനുള്ള അധികാരം രാജാവിൽ നിക്ഷിപ്തമാണ്. ബെൽജിയത്തിലെ രാജാവ് ആൽബർട്ട് രണ്ടാമൻ 2013 ജൂലൈ 5 ന് സ്ഥാനത്യാഗം ചെയ്യുകയാണെന്ന് അറിയിച്ചു. ആൽബർട്ട് രണ്ടാമന്റെ പിൻഗാമിയായി ഫിലിപ്പ് രാജകുമാരൻ ബെൽജിയത്തിന്റെ ദേശീയ ദിനമായ ജൂലൈ 21-ന് സ്ഥാനാരോഹണം ചെയ്ത് അധികാരമേറ്റു. ^[7]
