ആഫ്രിക്കയിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഉഗ്രവിഷമുള്ള മൂർഖൻ ഇനമാണ് ഫോറസ്റ്റ് കോബ്ര (Naja melanoleuca).ബ്ലാക്ക് കോബ്രാ എന്നും ഇത് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ മൂർഖൻ ഇനം (നജാജീനസ് ) ഫോറസ്റ്റ് കോബ്രയാണ്^[1].

ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ മൂർഖൻ ഫോറസ്റ്റ് കോബ്ര ആണ്^[2].അളന്നതിൽ വെച്ച് ഇവ 3.2 മീ (10 അടി ) നീളം വരെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്^[3][4]. മൂന്നര കിലോഗ്രാം ശരീരഭാരവും ഇവയ്ക്ക് ഉണ്ട്. പ്രായപൂർത്തിയായ ഒരു ഫോറസ്റ്റ് കോബ്ര ശരാശരി 2.2 മീ(4.6 അടി ) 7 അടി വരെ നീളം കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഒറ്റനോട്ടത്തിൽ രാജവെമ്പാലയുമായി സാദൃശ്യം തോന്നാം.

ഇതിന്റെ വിഷം പ്രധാനമായും ന്യൂറോടോക്സിൻ ഇനമാണ്. ഇതിന്റെ കടിയേറ്റാൽ തലകറക്കം , കേൾവികുറവ് , കടുത്ത പനി , മരവിപ്പ് ,ഹൈപ്പർടെൻഷൻ, ഛർദി , ബോധക്ഷയം , എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടാവുന്നു വലിയ അളവിൽ വിഷം ഇരയുടെ ശരീരത്തിലേക്ക് കയറ്റാൻ ഇതിനാവും എലികളിൽ നടത്തിയ LD50 വാല്യു പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ച് 0.324mg/kg ^[5], ഇരയുടെ ശരീരത്തിലേക്ക്കു ത്തിവെയ്ക്കാവുന്ന വിഷത്തിന്റെ അളവ് 571mg ,വിഷസഞ്ചിയിലുള്ള പരമാവധി വിഷത്തിന്റെ അളവ് 1102 mg.^[6].മൂർഖൻ ഇനങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ അളവിൽ വിഷം ഒറ്റകടിയിൽ കുത്തിവെയ്ക്കുന്നത് ഫോറസ്റ്റ് കോബ്രയാണ്.
