1841 ൽ ജോൺ റസ്കിൻ എഴുതിയ കഥാസമാഹാരവും നോവലുമാണ് ദ കിംഗ് ഓഫ് ദ ഗോൾഡൻ റിവർ ഓർ ദ ബ്ലാക് ബ്രദേഴ്സ് : എ ലെജന്റ് ഓഫ് സ്റ്റിറിയ. 12 വയസ്സുള്ള എഫി ഗ്രേക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണ് റസ്കിൻ ഈ പുസ്തകമെഴുതിയത്. പിന്നീട് എഫിയെ റസ്കിൻ കല്യാണം കഴിച്ചു. [1]1851 ലാണ് ഇത് പുസ്തകരൂപത്തിൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയത്. മൂന്ന് എഡീഷനുകളും വിറ്റുപോയ ഒരു ആദ്യകാല വിക്ടോറിയൻ ക്ലാസിക് കൃതിയാണിത്. ആദ്യ എഡിഷനിലെ പരസ്യത്തിൽ ഇത് ഒരു കെട്ടുകഥയാണെന്ന് പറയുന്നുണ്ട്. സ്നേഹം, ദയ, തിന്മയുടെ മുകളിൽ നന്മയുടെ വിജയം തുടങ്ങിയ മൂല്യങ്ങൾ ഉയർത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്ന കഥകളാണ് ഇത് എന്നും പരസ്യം പറയുന്നു. ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ റിച്ചാർഡ് ഡോയൽ വരച്ച 22 ചിത്രങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.[2]
