അമേരിക്ക ആസ്ഥാനമാക്കി ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാതെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന സാങ്കേതിക തൊഴിൽ വിദഗ്ദ്ധരടെ അന്തരാഷ്ട്ര സംഘടനയാണ് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ഇലക്ട്രിക്കൽ ആന്റ് ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് എഞ്ചിനീയേഴ്സ്. ഇതിനെ ചുരുക്കി ഐ-ട്രിപ്പിൾ ഇ (IEEE) എന്നാണ് വിളിക്കാറുള്ളത്. ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സിറ്റിയിൽ കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് ഓഫീസുളള ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ്, ഇലക്ട്രിക്കൽ എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ്, മറ്റ് അനുബന്ധ വിഷയങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയ്ക്കായുള്ള ഒരു 501(c)(3) പ്രകാരമുള്ള പ്രൊഫഷണൽ അസോസിയേഷനാണ്.^[4][5][6]ന്യൂജേഴ്‌സിയിലെ പിസ്കറ്റവേയിലാണ് അതിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തന കേന്ദ്രം. 1963-ൽ അമേരിക്കൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ഇലക്‌ട്രിക്കൽ എഞ്ചിനീയേഴ്‌സിന്റെയും ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് റേഡിയോ എഞ്ചിനീയേഴ്‌സിന്റെയും സംയോജനത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഐഇഇഇ രൂപീകരിച്ചത്.^[7]

1963-ലാണ് ഐട്രിപ്പിൾഇ സ്ഥപിതമായത്, ഇൻസ്റ്റിട്ട്യൂറ്റ് ഓഫ് റേഡിയോ എഞ്ചിനിയേഴ്സും (IRE, സ്ഥാപിതം 1912) അമേരിക്കൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിട്ട്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ഇലക്ട്രിക്കൽ എഞ്ചിനിയേഴ്സും (AIEE സ്ഥാപിതം 1884) 1963-ൽ ലയിച്ചത്‌ വഴിയാണ് ഐട്രിപ്പിൾഇ രൂപം കൊണ്ടത്.^[8]എഐഇഇ(AIEE) ആദ്യം വലുതായിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ 1950-കളുടെ മധ്യത്തോടെ, കൂടുതൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ ആകർഷിക്കാൻ സാധിച്ചതിനാൽ ഐആർഇ(IRE) വലുതായി.^[9] ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സിറ്റിയിലാണ് ഐഇഇഇയുടെ ആസ്ഥാനം, എന്നാൽ മിക്ക ബിസിനസ്സ് നടക്കുന്നത് 1975-ൽ ന്യൂജേഴ്‌സിയിലെ പിസ്കറ്റവേയിലുള്ള ഐട്രിപ്പിൾഇ ഓപ്പറേഷൻസ് സെന്ററിലാണ്^[10].

ഐട്രിപ്പിൾഇയുടെ ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയൻ വിഭാഗം 1972-നും 1985-നും ഇടയിൽ നിലവിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഈ തീയതിക്ക് ശേഷം, അത് സംസ്ഥാന-പ്രദേശ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ വിഭാഗങ്ങളായി വിഭജിച്ചു.^[11]

2021 വരെയുള്ള കണക്കനുസരിച്ച്, 160 രാജ്യങ്ങളിലായി 400,000 പേർ ഈ സംഘടനയിൽ അംഗങ്ങളാണ് ഇതിൽ 45% അളുകളും അമേരിക്കയ്ക്ക് പുറത്താണ്.^[12]

ഇലക്ട്രിക്കൽ, ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ്, കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ സംബന്ധിയായ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ ലോകത്ത് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന 30% കൂടുതൽ അക്കാദമിക് പ്രസിദ്ധീകണങ്ങൾ പുറത്തിറക്കുന്നത് ഐട്രിപ്പിൾഇയാണ്.^[13]ഈ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങളെല്ലാം തന്നെ അവരുടെ ഓൺലൈൻ ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ നിന്ന് ലഭ്യമാണ്.

ഈ ജേണലുകളിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ഉള്ളടക്കവും ഐഇഇഇ സ്പോൺസർ ചെയ്യുന്ന നൂറുകണക്കിന് വാർഷിക കോൺഫറൻസുകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഉള്ളടക്കവും^[14] ഐഇഇഇ എക്‌സ്‌പ്ലോറിലൂടെ ഐഇഇഇ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക് ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ (ഐഇഎൽ) ലഭ്യമാണ്.^[15][16]
