എലിസബത്ത് I (സെപ്റ്റംബർ 7 1533 - മാർച്ച് 24 1603) 1558 നവംബർ 17 മുതൽ അവരുടെ മരണം വരെ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെയും അയർലന്റിലെയും രാജ്ഞിയായിരുന്നു. ഹെൻറി എട്ടാമന്റെ പുത്രിയായി ജനിച്ച അവർ ട്യൂഡർ വംശത്തിലെ[1] അഞ്ചാമത്തെയും അവസാനത്തെയും ഭരണാധികാരിയായിരുന്നു. 1558-ൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് റാണി മേരി -I അന്തരിച്ചപ്പോളാണ് എലിസബത്ത് റാണി അധികാരമേറ്റെടുത്തത്. എലിസബത്ത് രാജ്ഞിയാണ് 1600 ഡിസംബർ 31-നു ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഈസ്റ്റ് ഇന്ത്യാ കമ്പനിയ്ക്ക് കിഴക്കുമായി വ്യാപാരബന്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടാനുള്ള രാജകീയ അനുമതി പത്രം നൽകിയത്.

ഹെൻറി എട്ടാമന്റെയും ആനി ബോലിന്റെയും ഏക സന്താനമായിരുന്നു എലിസബത്ത്, എലിസബത്തിന് മൂന്ന് വയസ് പ്രായമായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ മാതാവ് വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു

1533 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 7-ന് ഗ്രീൻവിച്ച് കൊട്ടാരത്തിലാണ് എലിസബത്ത് ജനിച്ചത്, ഹെൻറിയുടെ മാതാവായ യോർക്കിലെ എലിസബത്ത്, ആനിയുടെ മാതാവായ എലിസബത്ത് ഹൊവാർഡ് എന്നിവരുടെ പേരാണ് എലിസബത്തിന് നൽകപ്പെട്ടത്. ഹെൻറിയുടെ ആദ്യഭാര്യയിൽ മേരി എന്നൊരു കുട്ടിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും അവരുടെ വിവാഹബന്ധം വേർപെടുത്തിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ ജനനസമയത്തുതന്നെ എലിസബത്ത് കിരീടാവകാശിയായിരുന്നു.
