Меѓународен стандарден книжен број или ISBN (од англиски: International Standard Book Number) — единствен[1][2] број на книга со кој се препознава изданието, издавачот, како и земјата каде е печатена книгата. Кодот со 9 бројки го измислил Гордон Фостер, денес професор во пензија од Тринити Колеџот во Даблин,[3] за книжарниците и колекционерите во 1966 година.[4] Кодот со 10 бројки бил изработен од Меѓународната организација за стандардизација, а во 1970 година е објавен како меѓународен стандард ISO 2108.[4] Од 1 јануари 2007 година, ИСБН бројот содржи 13 бројки, формат кој се користи и во Македонија.[5]

Conversely, books are published with several ISBNs: A German, second-language edition of Emil und die Detektive has the ISBNs 87-23-90157-8 (Denmark), 0-8219-1069-8 (United States), 91-21-15628-X (Sweden), 0-85048-548-7 (England) and 3-12-675495-3 (Germany).
