Matemātiskā formula (latīņu: formula) ir kodolīgs veids, kā ar simboliem atainot informāciju par divu izteiksmju vienādību vai arī nevienādību. Piemēram, lai aprēķinātu sfēras tilpumu, ir jāpielieto integrālrēķini vai to ģeometriskais analogs, taču, kad tas vienreiz ir ticis izdarīts, var tikt izvesta formula, kas ir atkarīga no viena vai vairākiem parametriem (šajā gadījumā no rādiusa). Attiecīgā formula ir

Iegūstot šo rezultātu un zinot rādiusu sfērai ar nezināmo tilpumu, var ātri aprēķināt tilpumu. Formulas tiek pielietotas, lai nodrošinātu matemātisko risinājumu reālās dzīves problēmām. Piemēram, formula F = ma, kas ir viena no Ņūtona otrā likuma izteiksmēm, var tikt pielietota dažādu problēmu risināšanā.
