Pumilio alba est genus veteris stellae quae factae sunt degeneres. Stellae in principio e nebula gasorum contracta fiunt quae in primis ex hydrogenio exstat. Hydrogenium satis arte contractum in helium mutatur, quo energia in forma radiorum editur. Hi radii contractionem stellae consistendam curant stellaque lucere incipit, quae nunc in serie principali diagrammatis Hertzsprung-Russell ideoque generis V est.

Post autem quam maior pars hydrogenii consumpta est, contractio stellae pergit quoad helium in carbonium mutatur, cuius mutationis radii contractionem iterum interrumpunt. Nunc crescens stella gigas rubra fit, et in superiore dextraque parte diagrammatis Hertzsprung-Russell versatur (generis III aut IV).

Helio consumpto, stella si satis magna est, carbonium mutare incipit. De stellis illis, vide paginas de stella neutronica deque foramine nigro. Sin autem stella non est sesquialtero maior quam Sol noster, nunc instabilis fit. Inde pumiliones albae diametrum circiter 1000–10 000 chiliometrum (km) habent, et maiore parte e metallis levioribus (in primis carbonium et oxygenium) exstant, et energiam paulatim deficientem praesertim e contractione trahunt. Illa postrema contractio lege Pauli impeditur qua lege maximum duo electrones idem statum energeticum tenere possunt.

Etiam Sol post forsan quinquaginta miliens centena milia (5 × 109) annorum pumilio alba fiet.Proxima pumilio alba nota est stella Sirius B (8,6 sla (spatia lucis annuae) remota).
