Polyphaga

Cetonia aurata

Classis : Insecta
Ordo : Coleoptera
Subordo : Polyphaga
Emery, 1886

Polyphaga (πολύς 'multum' + φαγεῖν 'ēsse') sunt maximus maximeque varius coleopterorum subordo, qui centum quadraginta quattuor familiae in sedecim superfamiliis comprehendit. Mirabiles res his coleopteris propriae sunt, nam magnas in orbe terrarum naturae accommodationes ostentant. Polyphaga in plus quam 300 000 specierum descriptarum consistunt, circa 90 centesimis specierum coleopterorum hactenus inventarum.

Gravis polyphagorum proprietas est quod coxa posterior primum secundumque lamina abdominalia vel ventralia, sternites rite appellata, non dividit; etiam, sutura notopleurorum, sub scuto pronotali, abest.[1]

Classificatio

[recensere | fontem recensere]

Subordini sunt quinque infraordines:

Interior polyphagorum classificatio nonnullas superfamilias seriesve comprehendit, quarum partes sunt aliquantum constantes, quamquam aliquae minores familiae (quarum etiam gradus disputantur) in variis cladis a variis auctoribus ponuntur. Magnae superfamiliae sunt Hydrophiloidea, Staphylinoidea, Scarabaeoidea, Buprestoidea, Byrrhoidea, Elateroidea, et Bostrichoidea.

Infraordo Cucujiformia paene omnia coleoptera herbivora comprehendit, quibus sunt cryptonephriticae generis ordinarii tubulae Malpighianae, ommatidia sicut coni (rhabdomatibus apertis), et nulla spiracula efficacia super octavo segmento abdominali.

Superfamiliae Cucujiformium sunt Cleroidea, Cucujoidea, Tenebrionoidea, Chrysomeloidea, et Curculionoidea. Manifesto, adoptio vitae phytophagae ad diversitatem taxorum in coleopteris recte pertinet, Cucujiformibus, praecipue Curculionoideis, radiatione maiore.
