Gadiformes sunt ordo piscium classis Actinopterygiorum, etiam Anacanthini appellati, quibus insigniter sunt gadi aliaeque species familiae Gadidarum. Multi pisces commercii ad hunc ordinem pertinent. Inveniuntur in aquis marinis omnem per orbem terrarum, maximeque maior specierum pars regiones temperatas vel frigidiores frequentant, cum species tropicae plerumque in aqua alta habitent. Nonnullae species aestuaria intrant, sed solum una, Lota lota, est piscis aquae dulcis.

Inter proprietates Gadiformibus communes sunt locus pinnarum pelvicarum (si adsunt), quae infra aut ante pinnas pectorales patent. Vesicae gasiosae non est ductus pneumaticus, unde Gadiformes physoclistae habentur. Pinnae spinis carent. Magnitudo variat a Bregmacerotidis, quae adultae solum 7 centimetra longae sunt, ad Gadum morhuam, qui usque ad 2 metra longus crescit.[2]
