Ecclesia cathedralis et abbatialis Sancti Albani iuxta villam S. Albani in comitatu Hertfordiensi stat. Abbatia sancto Albano, primo martyre Britannorum, dicata ibi saeculo VIII condita est, sed ecclesia quae hodie videtur magna parte saeculo XI exeunte opere romano Normannico aedificata est, abbate eo tempore Paulo Cadomensi.
